The 2-year old gas spring on the rod locker of my bass boat had come loose (unscrewed). When I couldn't manually compress it, I assumed it had frozen up. So, I ordered this one...only to discover that I couldn't manually compress it either.
So, I put the original back on and it works fine. I was not aware of how much pressure these gas springs required.
My bad....but, now I have an extra one, in case one fails in the future...
